Dinner is usually the last thing on my mind when I come from home from work. If fact, I find the task of cooking very overwhelming since I never know what to make. I’ll be honest I was not gifted with much talent in the kitchen. However, a few weeks ago I came across a recipe for Iowa Maid-Rites, a simple mixture of savory ground beef on a bun with cheese. Simple! After making Maid-Rites a few times, I perfected my own special recipe and the best part it only uses four ingredients.
Makes 4-6 sandwiches
Ingredients:
2 pounds of lean ground beef
2 cans of Beef Consommé
Hamburger Buns
Slices of Cheddar Cheeses
Directions:
1. Brown two pounds of lean ground beef in a saucepan.
2. While ground beef is browning scramble it in a saucepan to break up the meat clumps.
3. Drain the grease and add two cans of Beef Consommé.
4. Bring to a boil, and then cook on medium heat occasionally stirring until juice cooks into the meat.
5. Serve immediately on a hamburger bun and add a slice of cheddar cheese.
These sandwiches are incredibly simple to make and taste delicious. Tonight Jeff and I will be enjoying our Iowa Maid-Rites while we watch our favorite baseball team the Angels home opener on TV. Go Halos!
