A GLIMPSE INTO OUR WEDDING DAY

October 11, 2017

Today is a special day for Jeff and me; it’s our eight-month anniversary!  Yes, we celebrate our monthaversary.  We are newlyweds after all, and don’t we all need celebrations to look forward to every month?

I realize I never really talked much about our wedding planning on the blog other than a post aboutwedding registry event I attended two months after our engagement.  I had planned more but simply ran out of time to post.  Planning a wedding is hard work and overwhelming.  I am so thankful for all the help I had from my Mom and our best friends who hosted our wedding in their backyard and stood by our sides as our Best Man and Maid-of-Honor.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted a simple backyard wedding.  Do you remember the 1991 movie, Father of the Bride?  That has always been my inspiration.  Twinkle lights, candles, simple flower arrangements, music, good food, and surrounded by our family and friends.  Our wedding day was filled with love, much celebration, and a lot of rain.  It turns out that after a year of severe drought in Southern California we experienced one of the wettest winters in recent years.  It poured the evening before and the morning of our wedding.  And did we have a backup plan?  Nope.  A lot of prayers were said asking for a break in the weather, and you know what, at 3:30 our wedding took place to a beautiful blue sky with puffy white clouds.  As you will see in many of the photographs, it was an emotional and special day.  We were married on my Dad’s 70th birthday.  My Mom made our cupcake wedding cake.  Our pups were included in the ceremony; Beowulf as the best buddy, Schenna as the flower girl, and Becks as the ring bearer.  And, our best friends opened their home for us to have our celebration.  They supported us each step of the way.  We felt so loved!  Jeff, even surprised me during the reception by singing a song to me.  I did pretty well not crying up until that point; Jeff, on the other hand, started crying the moment he saw me walk down the aisle.  So, without further ado here is a glimpse into our simple backyard wedding with a collection of my favorite images from our day, captured by our family friend and our wedding photographer Corrie from Corrie Lynn Photo.  Scroll through and enjoy!

I am so thankful we have these beautiful pictures to remember our wedding day especially since it went by in such a blur.  Thank you for letting me share our memories with all of you.  Below are a few details about our wedding.

Oh my goodness these wedding photos are amazing. I am glad that you had such amazing time on your big day. We also had fairy themed DIY ceremony at the garden Los Angeles wedding venues which was also very enjoyable.

Thank you, Wendy. We had a wonderful day, rain and all. I think DIY ceremonies are so special and filled with so much love. Your location at the gardens in Los Angeles was beautiful. I'm sure it was a magical event.
