I don’t know how all of you feel about fall; but now that we are in the middle of the season and my favorite month is upon us, I’m over the moon excited for all the cozy fall feelings. The days are still warm, but the nights are crisp and cool, making this my favorite time of the year to walk the pups.
Life Updates
You have probably noticed that my blog posts have been few and far between over the last few months. As I shared in my July month in review, I spent most of my summer looking for a new job; and I’m so happy to report that the reason I haven’t been blogging much is because I received a new teaching job the first week in August, just a week before the school year started. I’m serving as the Performing Arts Director at a private school in the Inland Empire, for grades Kindergarten through high school. This is my first time in my eleven-year teaching career that I have elementary students. I’ve just fallen in love with teaching them, especially the kindergarteners, since I get to interact with them the most being that my classroom is next to their classroom. A few times a week I even get to read stories to them beyond our performing arts class time. You really do learn all you ever needed to know in Kindergarten.
We are now in our eleventh week of the year, and I’m preparing for our Christmas show in early December and rehearsing for our spring musical Bye Bye Birdie. At times, I feel like I am still adjusting to my new job, like having to remember the names of all my students in Kindergarten through high school, and a few pleasant perks like making bulletin boards. One change has been the commute, which is over forty miles each way to and from work; but I’m going against traffic, and I listen to podcasts to pass the drive time. (My favorite is Young House Love Has A Podcast, check it out here). So far things are going well, and I have a very supportive team of teachers that I work with.
Not much has happened in the way of organizing our home, since Jeff is equally as busy. He is in the midst of coaching the fall golf team at Vanguard University. I am so proud of him and all his hard work and dedication in founding the university’s golf team. He cares so much for his players and shares a true passion for the sport. Most recently, he was featured of the university’s athletic website as the Vanguard University Lions’s Heart of the week, where he shared his faith and vision for the program. You can read his interview here. I am one proud Mrs. Coach, as the players call me.
I did manage a few weekend day trips in October. At the beginning of the month, my Mom and I went to the Pumpkin Fest at Cal Poly Pomona, where we picked pumpkins from the vine. Jeff and I also took a trip to Oak Glen with Bunker the Beagle to go Apple Picking. We didn’t really pick apples, but we both enjoyed hiking through the orchards and Bunker loved new smells and the attention she received. I look forward to sharing some posts about both of these fun days.
And, in case you were wondering about little Schenna Marie, I am happy to report that she has completely recovered from having her leg amputated in July. In fact, she seems better than before, even more happy and spunky. Bunker is also calming down a bit since her spay surgery in early September, however she did have a minor complication from the surgery and had to go to emergency late the night of her operation. She has also completely recovered but it was a sad evening watching her in so much pain. The Scottie boys, Beowulf and Becks are doing great. They have the best life sleeping all day and enjoying long walks in the evening. We just love our little pack.
Love It
It should come as no surprise that I love school supplies; and when I found thiscute weekly planner from Simplified by Emily Ley, I knew it would be the perfect desk accessory and planner for the year. I love the bright colors, simplistic design, and classic look on the planner. What better way to stay organized, and I can’t wait for the new year to start using it.
