REFRESHING LEMONADE

August 10, 2018

We are in the midst of the hottest days of summer and also experiencing a heat wave here in sunny Southern California.  All I want is to feel refreshed during this time of the year, and nothing is more thirst-quenching than a nice cold glass of lemonade.  Now, I could go to the store and buy a pre-packaged carton of lemonade, but that is not nearly as good as homemade fresh-squeezed lemonade.  Making lemonade at home always brings back memories of the lemonade stand I use to have every summer at my grandparents’ house in Colorado.
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
1¾ Cup Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice (I used 10 Sunkist brand lemons)
1 Cup Pure Cane Sugar (I used this brand of sugar)
5 Cups Filtered Water (not tap water which may alter the taste of the finished lemonade)
Lemon Slices for Garnish
Directions:
1.  Juice 9 to 10 lemons until you have 1 ¾ cups of fresh lemon juice.  Helpful Hint: if you roll the lemons on your counter or other hard surface before cutting them in half and juicing them you will release more liquid.

2.  In a large pitcher, combine sugar and lemon juice.  Stir until sugar is dissolved.

3.  Add filtered water and continue stirring until well mixed.

4.  Chill lemonade in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

5.  Garnish glass with fresh lemon slices before serving.
I hope you enjoy this simple, thirst quenching lemonade recipe.  It is sure to become one of your summertime favorites.
