A NOTE FOR THE NEW YEAR

January 31, 2018

Yes, I know we are a few weeks into the New Year, I mean the month is over today.  I guess to some it might seem that I am already behind on my goals for the year, but in reality, it has taken me this long to formulate my thoughts and ideas for the year.  Looking back at 2017 it was a big year for me.  First, I got married to the funniest and loving person I know, in the summer we contemplated a move across the county, and this fall Jeff received his dream job as the head coach of the Men’s and Women’s golf program at Vanguard University.  Oh, and if you add moving into and decorating our first home together, I’d say we accomplished a lot this year.  With 2017 over, I want to make sure that in 2018 we achieve a few more things on the never-ending to-do list and find balance with our time so we can go on more adventures together and just live more productive lives.  Now for the exciting part, here are my goals for 2018 and what you can expect with the new year here on the blog.
Blog Goals:

Most of my goals this year are for the blog.  As I approach my first year of blogging, I want to put more intention into Chic Ideology, creating better, honest, and beautiful content.  Here are my goals for the blog.

1.  Increase my postings to once a week.  I really need to work on this, as you can tell I am already behind on this goal.  I am a teacher by day and blogger at night when I don’t have other commitments.  I am intentionally working to make my blog more of a priority and creating a set schedule every week to work on posts.

2.  One thing that I notice with bloggers is there Honest writing and sharing of my thoughts and feelings.  I sometimes feel that a lot of social media outlets that bloggers use as platforms come out over-glamorized and “photoshopped” I am striving to create an honest and real picture of my life, thoughts, and feelings.  I mean if I am completely honest, I live in a small zoo with three dogs, a turtle, and a cat.  My home is rarely picture perfect.

3.  This brings me to my third goal for the blog, better photography.  I would say 98% of the photos you see on the blog are taken by me, but I really want to learn better composition and editing skills.  Lucky for me my Mom has picked up photography as a hobby and taking classes so every so often we meet up and have a girl’s day and she teaches me what she is learning.

 Personal Goals:

1.  I feel like everyone says that they want to get in shape for their new year’s goals and rarely do people follow through with it.  Actually, my goal is to continue to maintain my healthy lifestyle, stop drink Diet Dr. Pepper, that’s a hard one for me, and get more sleep.  I already wear a Fitbit and try to walk 10,000 steps a day.  On average, I make it about five out of seven days a week that I reach my 10,000 steps a day goal.

2.  As a teacher, I feel I should be reading more, especially when I am having students read for my classes, but it is so hard to find time to read.  One reason I became a teacher was that I love learning, and reading instills in us this idea of discovery and the need to continue knowing more.

3.  I would like to be more forgiving and complain less.  I’m a verbal processor, but sometimes it comes out as complaining. However, I’m really just trying to figure out a solution, and I value others thoughts.  I’m working on ways to phrase things more carefully and stop holding grudges.

4.  Lastly, and perhaps the most important is to be better at remembering names.  This is such a weakness of mine and has landed me in some embarrassing situations.

Top Post Of The Year:

Here is the list of my top five posts of the year.

As always thank you for taking time out of your day to read my thoughts and musings on Chic Ideology.  I started this blog as a creative outlet, and now it has become a passion project of mine.  Thank you for your support.
