GOODBYE 2020, HELLO 2021 + READER SURVEY

December 31, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for being a part of the Chic Ideology community this year.  I started this blog years ago as a creative outlet, and this year as so much was up in the air with uncertainty, I jumped into blogging as an escape from the realities of a scary year.  I feel so lucky that I have this space to share my creativity with all of you.

Goodbye 2020

This year collectively has been such a wild ride for all of us, but there were also so many wonderful moments that I will never forget.  I started new hobbies, learning how to garden and redesigning my patio space just in time to enjoy late summer nights on my patio.  I grew closer with my Mom.  We have always been close, but this pandemic has brought us closer.  I spoiled my pups with love and treats.  It’s hard to say who enjoyed my time at home more, the pups or me.  And, lastly, I started looking for ways to improve my health.  I changed up my meals by making healthy choices, and I started running.  I run an average of four times a week, and I look forward to it every time.  I love my “me time” listening to music or an audiobook and getting in tune with nature.

We created a new path as we charted our way through a year that had no map.

Even though this year was full of many heartbreaks, hurdles, and things we did not see coming, I also want to remember the good and happy memories from the past year with a look back at my top posts from 2020.

Hello 2021

Looking back, 2020 was a lot to handle.  There were so many bad things, but there was also a lot of good things.  2020 was a pivotal year for me.  Through fear and uncertainty, I focused on what I could control and thrived the best I could.  One thing that kept popping into my thoughts this past year was to focus on what I wanted to do to better my life and educate myself.  Looking towards the new year, I hope to take all that I learned and push forward to continue in my personal growth.  So onward I go, toward a new day and a fresh start in the new year.

What I’m Adding

It looks like recipes and my pet posts where a big hit this year.  Moving forward, I am looking forward to adding travel posts (I have a trip planned abroad this summer; and with the new vaccine, it is looking like it will be happening!).  Additionally, I will be incorporating more seasonal posts, replacing the monthly recap.  I have to be honest with myself that blogging is a passion project, meaning I have to carve out time to create content in the midst of a hectic year teaching; but if this past year has taught me anything, it is to value the time doing the things that bring me joy.

Readers Survey 2021

Before we jump too far into 2021, I want to hear from all of you.  Your support is what keeps me going and makes this blog possible, so I would like to make sure that I am creating content that you like and find inspiring.  If you have time in the next few days (or weeks), I’d love to receive your input.  I will use your valuable feedback to prepare my editorial calendar for the coming year, making sure I fill it with the types of content you love to read.  Below is a link to my anonymous survey that you can click through, type on, and then SUBMIT. I cannot thank you enough for sharing your valuable time and insight with me.
